Image Quality: A Feast for the Eyes with Vibrant Colors and Enhanced Contrast
The Hisense 55U7QF has another feature which makes it stand out: Quantum Dot tech. It works by using tiny semiconductor crystals to produce a wider gamut of colours, to make the images you see on the screen more vivid and lifelike. This is the reason why Quantum Dot sets like the Hisense SU7Q (reviewed here) outperform other LED TVs in the market. The difference is quite remarkable when watching colourful content such as nature documentaries, spectacular films or, video games with adorned landscapes imagery. The vibrant and life-like colours provide an immersive viewing experience.
The 4K resolution definitely contributes to the spectacle too. It’s sharp and defined. It brings your favourite films and shows to life so much so, that some scenes might feel extremely realistic. Rounding off the specs, HDR10 and Dolby Vision add to the viewing experience by increasing the contrast between light and dark areas of the screen (known as the dynamic range), and the number of tones within the light range (known as the colour gamut).
This leads to a more ‘real’ and immersive picture whether you are watching the sunset on an episode of Planet Earth II, a huge action scene in Wonder Woman or a darkly lit thriller such as Twin Peaks. Whether you are watching or presenting can be swapped on the fly. Watching a dark scene on the 55U7QF is instantly made more captivating by the experience, where the HDR really kicks in, making the picture very enjoyable to watch.
Sound Quality: Clear Audio with Dolby Enhancement, but Limitations Exist
The Hisense 55U7QF comes with 20W Dolby Audio stereo speakers. They are completely adequate for everyday viewing, and their sound is clearly better than that of the average TV. But if you are looking for a TV to up your home cinema game, you won’t find it here. What you will find is somewhat enhanced overall audio quality, thanks to the Dolby Audio compatibility.
This immersive audio technology improves the detail of the soundstage, improving both clarity and intelligibility of dialogue. However, it won’t help you if you like your bass, since the 55U7QF does not have a built-in subwoofer. If you’re just watching TV casually you’ll be quite happy with the 55U7QF’s built-in speakers, but I’d still strongly suggest pairing the TV with an external soundbar or home theater system for a full audio experience, especially for movie nights or gaming sessions.
Smart Features: Android TV's User-Friendly Interface Provides a Seamless Experience
This Hisense is powered by the immensely popular Android TV operating system, with a smooth, easy-to-use interface and access to numerous apps that allow you to stream online content. Thanks to Google Assistant built in, you can control the TV with just your voice, and the ability to find what you need more easily is a plus, but it’s also convenient to say, ‘Find my show’ or ‘Find my movie’. Casting content from a smartphone or tablet to the TV using Chromecast built-in; When toggled on, customers can cast their favourite videos, music or photos from their smartphones or tablets to the TV screen, enjoying the videos, music or photos they have found on the go, through the comfort of a TV display or speakers. Since the interface (the menu system) of android TV is quite intuitive and has a user-friendly feel (the user experience of the system ie the user interface) --- it is easy to find your favourite TV show with Android TV and enjoy your favourite movie etc. The remote is responsive (wakes up fast and quick to respond when you press the buttons without lag or delay) Overall, the user experience of the Android TV is as it supposed to be and that fitness for purpose in mind, it makes it easy to stream your favourite movie, play videos and do whatever you want with that TV basically.
