Best Gadgets Home Appliances, Top Picks for Your Household
by Samuel Kalenga on Aug 10, 2024
As we live in the world of demanding schedules, kitchen turns into a centre of technology as the cooking experience becomes easier and more enriching thanks to newly introduced gadgets. For many modern housewives, home appliances are a necessity. I will explore two popular gadgets in this essay. Firstly, a smart oven, which allows you to preheat it even while you're on your way home from work could be the next big thing. Secondly, a coffee maker, which grinds and brews only the exact amount of coffee you will drink is one of the most comfortable devices to have at home. These gadgets offer people a way to simplify and eliminate many details by enabling them to perform a task with just one action. For example, a smart oven is ideal for a housewife who is working during the day and is not sure whether to switch on the oven before coming home. And as for coffee makers, I think that having one at home is a perfect solution for modern lifestyle.

A good investment in the eyes of the foodie – material and metal that promises to deliver strength and safety in the kitchen.Pros
- Resistant to heat, bending, and breaking
- Safe for non-stick cookware and food-grade material
- Comprehensive set that covers various cooking needs
Cons
- Bulkier storage required due to the set size
- Some utensils may be less sturdy than expected
- The storage container might not accommodate all items conveniently
With the Umite Chef Silicone Kitchen Set recently help us make a mess in the kitchen, we were really impressed by the product overall. The silicone-tipped kitchen utensils had a substantial feel in the hand and seemed up to any heat blasts from the stove. The wood handles were comfortable in the hand and equipped with a pleasing appearance that added appeal to the otherwise unattractive utensil holder. The set came in handy as we moved from stirring a soup on the stove to flipping pancakes. We liked that the spatulas and spoons didn’t scratch our non-stick pans, and that nothing stuck to the silicone – a big plus for us. One thing we found difficult was corralling all the bits.
Though the range is astonishing, 24 tools don’t fit in your average utensil jar – it really does have to go into the side cupboard. And although the silicone could take high heat just fine, we found that some of the utensils – specifically, the whisk – was a little too fragile looking to be a good choice for heavier mixing jobs. That said, aside from barbecue-based hand-rubs and grilling, this isn’t a deal-breaker for cooking at a normal level. Finally, we can say that as an addition to our kitchen it doesn’t suck. It’s realistic in the range of cooking techniques it’s capable of, it washed up beautifully in the dishwasher, and looks as good as new. OK, yes, we had to completely rejig our kitchen storage to accommodate it – but it does the job it was built for, and as far as fake things to enhance your kitchen go, it’s not so bad as all that. The Umite Chef kitchen set was kindly given to us by Tribes for review purposes.
OXO Soft-Handled Can Opener
Don’t forget that can opener: it comes highly recommended as a time-saver and comfort-enhancer for those tedious kitchen tasks.Pros
- Effortless turning with its oversized knob
- Secure grip handles for stability, even when hands are damp
- Incorporates an additional bottle opener feature
Cons
- Hand wash only, not suitable for dishwasher
- Bulkier than some compact models
- Higher price point compared to basic alternatives
I’ve been glad to use recently the OXO Soft-Handled Can Opener, and it definitely was the star tool my kitchen. Besides the comfortable feeling of the large, cushioned, and non-slippery handles, it gave me pleasant surprise of surprisingly little pressure required to puncture the can lid (as, obviously, the wetter your hands and frizzlier the tin lid, the bigger the chances of slipping with traditional can-opener). This thing was so easy to use — turning the massive lever felt almost like overkill. It opened everything with the same ease, from the industrial-size tomato cans I was slightly over-eager to bust into for a sauce to the fragile ringpull of a tuna can. I wouldn’t have indulged myself in the long process of can-opening before, but my life was enriched each time I took this machine to my abnormal task. We also enjoyed the stake in the side that is a bottle opener.
That meant one less thing to clutter up that little kitchen drawer. And the chunkiness is a good thing, assuming that the product will last; it would be disheartening to buy something made entirely of plastic that’s also supposed to be an investment. So while it’s more bulky than minimalist designs, the fact that it’s so solid, plus its ease-of-use in action, make it a welcome member of the small army of metalware we’ve built up over the years. After three or four years of active use, it is clear from its heft and its impeccable operation that it was crafted to be durable, whereas proper care will wring out every last drop of functionality we are privileged to enjoy; hand washing is annoyingly incompatible with the dream of paying once and using indefinitely by tossing a gadget covered in heavy-duty plastic into the dishwasher.
This is not an inexpensive can opener, but the OXO Better Guarantee gives us confidence that if you use it regularly, it is an investment worth making; it will last a long time. In conclusion, we find this can opener to be attractive, both to the eye and to its users. It is well-designed, functional for the intended purpose, as durable as any other can opener we know, and a little bit pleasant to look at when spotted from across the kitchen. It deserves a place in every pantry. And it comes with the assurance provided by the OXO Better Guarantee.
OXO Apple Divider
This OXO Apple Divider is a must-have for anyone who likes to eat fresh fruit but hates cutting it up – it has been a real kitchen game changer for us.Pros
- Effortlessly cores and slices apples with a single press
- Comfortable grip reduces hand strain during use
- Dishwasher safe for easy cleaning
Cons
- Requires careful handling to avoid the sharp blades
- Not suitable for very large or irregularly shaped fruit
- Manual operation might not suit everyone
We’d been surveilling the OXO Apple Divider in appliance stores for years – happily preparing apple slices or cubes for snacks and recipes ever since it made its way into our home. What’s more, the stainless steel blades spring back into place from the apple along a hinge, preventing any pesky bits from being left behind. Raised handles enhance the divider, sparing our knuckles from the wooden cutting board. We noticed the non-slip grips makes the tool a pure pleasure to use. No more hand aches from having to jam on the body of the tool; this one takes the pressure off your hand. We think it’s going to become one of those gadgets to reach for almost daily, especially for anyone interested in healthy snacking.
There’s nothing to clean up, aside from possibly the loose remnants of apple flesh, because the apple divider effortlessly rides up to the dishwasher — no tedious, hand-washing required. Still, we baby the blade, because it’s ridiculously sharp, and it’s possible to seriously maim oneself. It doesn’t work on really big apples, but for reasonably small apples? It’s an ideal. We also know it’s a pleasant way to get a kid involved in the kitchen, with adult supervision. We eat more apples now because the OXO Apple Divider makes it fun, easy and less messy.
Hecef Kitchen Knife Set
If you’re looking for a kitchen knives set that is both stylish and practical, then we recommend giving this Hecef Kitchen Knife Set a try.Pros
- Impressive sharpness and precision
- Comfortable grip ensures safe handling
- Blade guards included for extra safety and convenience
Cons
- Might require frequent sharpening to maintain the edge
- Nonstick coating can wear off over time with heavy use
- Not suited for the dishwasher; hand wash recommended to preserve the coating
Vegetables and meat can be easily sliced with no need to try hard thanks to the flexible stainless-steel blades of this Hecef knife set. Our first chop on some tomatoes proved that when it comes to shaping veggies these knives are helpful for a precise cut. According to our initial tests, there’s no difference between this one and premium protective heat-treated knives, as excelled slicing ability and an obvious clean cut were observed.
Photo courtesy the authorWe like the ergonomic handle of these knives, which fit nicely in the hand, and the nonstick colours provided by their blades, which keep food from adhering and make it easier to clean off. And the blade guards that come with them improve the user’s experience, since they protect the cutting edge when you put the sharp set of knives away in your kitchen drawer, and they give you a peace of mind that you won’t cut your fingers just because you’re reaching all the way inside.
At the same time, because of that protection, the blades always need to be taken care of and kept working under the right conditions – they lose their sharpness fairly quickly over time. This Hecef set may be easy on the aesthetic with its gleaming black coating, but it’s also easy on the kitchen with its stellar performance. Owners should be prepared to use them, but there is no reason not to. So, for those looking to level up their culinary game with cheap (almost free!) knives, that are sharp, well-made and reliable, this set can’t be missed.
